James Henry Couturié, PLS, PE died Monday November 7, 2011 at the age of 72 years. Mr. Couturié was a native of New Orleans. He was the beloved husband of Mary Nannette Williams of Cairo, Georgi. To me, he was a dear friend, and honored mentor.

Jack E. Farmer, PLS (July 18, 1935 – September 25, 2011) was a well-respected surveyor from Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was a very active member and leader of the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors serving as President in 1991. Jack was active in promoting his chosen profession and he and his wife Janice were fixtures at nearly every LSPS event. He will be missed.

Wife and mother to two LSPS past presidents, Sheile Coyle succumbed Wednesday, September 21st, 2011 after a courageous struggle with brain cancer. Her husband Charles G. Coyle, Jr. and son Charles III both served LSPS. Her support and love touched many.

GPS Action Alert!

The House of Representatives Science Committee will have a hearing on September 8, 2011 on the Impacts of the LightSquared Network. The hearing was originally scheduled for August 3, and the witnesses are representatives from Federal agencies and one person from the Space Policy Institute at George Washington University. But they need YOUR input.
