Author Richard Arum, a professor of sociology at New York University, co-authored Academically Adrift along with Josipa Roska, assistant professor of sociology at the University of Virginia. There is a decline in critical thinking skills among students and part of the reason for could be a decrease in academic rigor.

The book contains all that one expects as a collection of bits of wisdom and stories of achievement and motivation. In part because of its origin the reader who looks beneath the veneer of platitudes finds himself alternatively inspired to do what he hasn’t yet accomplished and embarrassment for failures due to his lack of effort or preparation. It is a great read full of inspiration.

Dale Brown is indeed irrepressible. This book by Bruce Hunter illustrates why and how industry, belief in oneself and teamwork not only lead to success but ARE success in themselves.
