<\/p>\nFederal officials on Tuesday struck a major blow to satellite venture LightSquared, saying the government plans to take away its permission to operate as a mainstream high-speed wireless network.<\/p>\n
The FCC\u2019s decision comes after the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) said Tuesday that its analysis of further testing of the controversial network showed \u201cthere is no practical way to mitigate the potential interference at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The FCC\u2019s decision is a huge setback for LightSquared, created by hedge fund billionaire Philip Falcone. The satellite venture has struggled with financing as regulatory scrutiny of the network grew.<\/p>\n
