Erin Frances Schulz gives us a “Readers’ Digest” version of a romantic biography. It is very short and to the point, one page per episode. It was easy to read, but it also felt like reading the executive summary of a scientific report. It satisfies the immediate curiosity but leaves one wondering about the parts not included.
It is an enjoyable read if one understands its premise. It is presented in a very romantic way about two characters who have so many classic flaws as to contradict the romance. He a king with an empire at a precarious time abandons all that for which he has been prepared for a woman who can’t seem to keep a marriage vow for more than a few years. All-in-all, I enjoyed the reading more than the subject. ( )
