You Don’t Know Dixie

I watched a great program on the History Channel tonight. It was named “You Don’t Know Dixie”. It was a very good attempt to explain and display that certain style, language and way of life we call Southern. They explained that America itself was made in the South, “ain’ts”, “greens”, football on Saturday nights, resilience, rebirth, self-reliance and love of the land, accents, bar-b-que, hunting, mfishing, moonshine, Tabasco, music and other informative and sometimes lighthearted looks at distinctive cultures, characteristics and influences on our country’s history.

The show is narrated by Charlie Daniels, and includes the likes of Jeff Foxworthy, Trace Adkins, Ty Pennington, James Carville, Ricky Scaggs, Michael Waltrip, Bobby Bowden, Lyrnyrd Skynryd, Herschel Walker, Al Bell, and others. It is a very good history lesson and entertaining to boot!
