Hello World!

Welcome to Tony’s Blog.

This is my first posting here. I suppose it’s time to start blogging! I’m a surveyor, “l’arpenteur géomètre”, licensed in Louisiana. Among other things I love sharing what I’ve learned, along with my opinions, which leads to speaking and writing. My website presence began sometime back in the mid-1990s and has consistently included a forum of some sort.

Through the years it has morphed from posted e-mails, on-line chat and traditional B.B.S. to the more recent setting of GPSman’s Forums. I’ve tried to preserve much of that old dialogue because there was often a lot of wit and a good dose of wisdom shared.

The changes were driven by developments in technologies. Not all of the changes were improvements. There seems to be a dance step in e-communicating in which a new technique enhances communication followed by (the other shoe dropping) mischief makers who relish finding ways to confound that communication.

Well, it’s happened again with the result that I’ve disabled further interaction at GPSman’s Forums. The ungodly amount of time and effort to keep the ne’er-do-wells at bay simply wasn’t worth it any more. I am hopeful that the newer format of the blog will prove worthwhile, entertaining and informative. Time will tell.

I love speaking and presenting seminars so if you would like to hear me speak to your group please contact me and we’ll give it a go!

My favorite aphorism has been, “Never underestimate the power of enthusiasm!” Enthusiasm along with a modicum of brains can accomplish great things.

A favorite quotation is: “We have met the enemy and he is us!” — Pogo (Walt Kelly)

Paper clip
Simple like a paper clip.

One key to success in a project is to keep in mind the lowly paper clip.Few thing ever work as reliably as a  paper clip … a result of its simplicity. A robust design.

I plan for topics befitting categories related to General News & Opinions, Speaking, Surveying, Genealogy and others as they become apparent.  Please come back often. Share your thoughts, please. Best wishes!
