Jack E. Farmer, PLS (July 18, 1935 – September 25, 2011)

Jack E. Farmer, PLS (July 18, 1935 – September 25, 2011) was a well-respected surveyor from Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was a very active member and leader of the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors serving as President in 1991. Jack was active in promoting his chosen profession and he and his wife Janice were fixtures at nearly every LSPS event. He will be missed.

Funeral services for Jack Farmer will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches with Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery there. The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on September 27, 2011 at Blanchard – St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.

Jack Farmer, 76 years of age, passed away September 25, 2011 at St. Francis Christus Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He worked as a professional land surveyor in Natchitoches for Rick Nowlin and N & A, Inc.. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Natchitoches. He served 25 years in the Louisiana National Guard Post 1-156th Infantry.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Janice Farmer of Natchitoches ; his children, Johnny Farmer and wife Shara of Minden, Jimmy Farmer of Natchitoches, Juanice Carnahan and husband Bush of Minden, Julie Bates of Normal, Illinois ; his grandchildren, Jonathan Farmer and wife Kristen, Matthew Farmer, Jodie Bates, Rachel Farmer, Lauren Carnahan, Kennedy Preziosi, Martel Bates, Trey Rink and Meagan Farmer ; his great-grandchild, Julie Boudreaux ; his half-brother, Butch Farmer ; and half-sister Kay Simmons; his brother-in-law, Jim Melder and wife Edwina of Shreveport ; his sister-in-law, Virginia Butler and husband Jerome of Richardson, Texas ; his nephews, Greg Melder and Christopher Butler and wife Jennifer.

Pallbearers will be Bill Shaw, Eddie White, David Antilley, Sam Watson, Rick Nowlin, Bobby Pierson, John Howell and Mike Murphy.
